Challenges and Opportunities for the Growth of Mexican MSMEs
Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are key to the Mexican economy, representing 99.8% of productive units, 68% of employment, and 39% of production. However, they face challenges such as low productivity, limited digitalization, heavy regulatory burdens, and difficulties accessing financing, which limits their participation in exports and global value chains. Despite existing initiatives, many MSMEs are unaware of the available programs.
The document proposes seven key recommendations to strengthen them: reducing regulatory burdens, promoting digitalization, fostering innovation, ensuring access to financing, and facilitating internationalization, with the goal of increasing their competitiveness and leveraging their economic potential.
